I am so excited that Le Shag now carries Kevin Murphy products and wanted to share a couple of my favorites. I’m going to focus on their volumising products because I think they are really wonderful and it can be difficult to find products well suited for fine hair.

Kevin Murphy makes one of my all-time favorite shampoo and conditioner sets, Angel Wash and Angel RinseIt’s challenging to find a shampoo and conditioner duo that is full of hydration but not too heavy. I myself have fine hair that is bleached and I know there’s a delicate balance when using moisturizing products. I really need the added hydration, but lots of conditioners leave my hair limp and flat. The ultimate fix is Angel Wash and Angel Rinse.

Both are color-safe, strengthening, sulphate, paraben, and cruelty-free and gentle enough for all hair types. They give your hair the moisture it needs without weighing it down.

Another favorite is Body.Builder which is a volumising mousse. It’s a weightless spray mousse that adds volume without leaving any sticky or crunchy residue on the hair. Spray at the root on damp hair and blow-dry in for fullness and extra root lift. I also love this product because it can be layered in the hair. It’s light enough that you can keep adding product until you get your desired amount of lift.

The last product I wanted to mention is Doo.Over. It is a volumising powder finishing spray meant to be used on dry hair. After hair is blown out I like to spray it at the root for one last dose of volume and light hold. Doo.Over can also act as a dry shampoo and help absorb extra oils on second or third-day hair.

When the Kevin Murphy products arrived at Le Shag I was more than delighted. This line quickly became a favorite of mine when I discovered it working at Whistle salon in the East Village NYC. After years in the industry, I had come to find that some products failed to do what they stated they could on the label, but with Kevin Murphy, every product does its job impeccably.

I do a lot of short cuts, mullets, and shags and I am never out of choices on how to finish a style with these products. An all-time favorite finish of mine is using Freehold when I want to add some texture to finish a pixie cut or messy rocker shag. I also love to end a shag or curly mullet with some Hair Resort. On wet hair, I like to let the hair dry naturally or with some added diffusion, and on dry hair it gives a quick messy but neat restyle. Hair resort also has a smell that will bring you to the beach, which is much needed in the 25 degree March weather.
